Dr. Brent W. Allain, Jr., is a native of Franklin, Louisiana. He is a graduate of Catholic High School in New Iberia, Louisiana and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana and then continued there for his internship and residency in general surgery with training experience in bariatric surgery. Dr. Allain then completed a fellowship in minimally invasive, advanced laparoscopic and bariatric (weight loss) surgery at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Institute in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery with the LSU Department of Surgery in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Allain performs a wide variety of advanced, minimally invasive surgical procedures, and Physician Assisted Robotic Surgery in the fields of both general and bariatric surgery. Specific weight loss procedures include: laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic revisional bariatric surgery, as well as incisionless stoma reduction surgery.
Dr. Allain is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Cohn-Rives Surgical Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
